Stavanger Wine Festival

17 – 20 April
This will be the festival’s 15th year. Ten of Stavanger’s best restaurants team up for this showcase of wine, with exhibitors from all around Europe.

Stavanger Live

3 – 4 May
The Sørmarka Arena hosts this major music festival, which this year is headlined by Tinie Tempah, Two Door Cinema Club and Karpe Diem.

6 – 11 May
MaiJazz has been running for more than 20 years. Since the first festival in 1989 MaiJazz has developed to be one of Norway’s leading jazz festivals presenting international jazz stars and the best in national and local jazz every year.

Norway Chess

7 – 18 May
Norway’s chess supertournament. This year the event will be held at historical sites around the Stavanger region, in conjunction with the local tourist organisation.

Rangle Rock at Bryne

7 – 18 May
This annual rock festival is held in the small town of Bryne, a short train ride south of Stavanger.

Viking Festival at Karmøy

6 – 9 June
Western Norway’s viking festival provides fun for all the family. Held at Karmøy, north of Stavanger.

American rockers KISS play a one-off show at Stavanger’s Viking Stadion.

24 – 27 July
Scandinavia’s biggest food festival, Gladmat attracts over 200,000 visitors to sample the flavours of the Stavanger region.

Blink Summer Ski Festival

1 – 3 August
Contestants from the national elite in cross country skiing and biathlon racing through the streets of Sandnes.
