The Diary of David has come to an end. Long live the Diary of David!
But don’t fear, loyal fans! I know many of you log on after work desperate to read my latest witterings about life in Norway… you do, right?
All the old posts remain and there’ll be plenty more to come, it’s just the design that’s changed. The old white minimal look has been dumped in the bin, in favour of this black, white, red and blue design that’s basically just a lot nicer to look at.
Ah! A good question. There are a number of reasons:
- I was struggling to find motivation to keep writing on the old site. My post count had dropped way down and one old friend actually got in touch to ask if things were okay. My thinking is, with an improved design and better defined topics to write about, I’ll feel more inspired to write more. We’ll see…
- I am a few weeks away from launching a new web venture, related to Norway. Giving my personal site a redesign and a relaunch was the perfect opportunity to flex my geeky muscles before I need to use them in anger. For the new project, well you’ll have to wait for now, but I will be getting in touch with some of you in advance!
- Geeky point – I use the Genesis framework for all my other web publishing and I wanted to bring my own personal site into the fold. Saves time.
- And lastly…why not?
The site isn’t perfect yet, I still need to iron out some inconsistencies especially with the colours. But I didn’t see the logic in waiting, I mean I pop to the shop in my slippers sometimes, so why not the same with this?
I’d be delighted to know what you think of the redesign, so please leave a comment below! Oh, and if you have any suggestions for future posts, please let me know too.
