Luxury hotels in Trondheim

Treat yourself in Trondheim with a stay at one of the city's top hotels.

I get a lot of emails from people asking about the best options for cheap accommodation in Trondheim.

But every once in a while, someone asks about a hotel to treat their loved one. Trondheim scores highly in that regard with several luxury options.

Scandic Nidelven

For 10 years in a row, this waterside hotel won “Norway's best breakfast”, and with good reason.

The hotel introduced locally-produced and organic food before many others, and to this day maintain a large network of local food suppliers to deliver a top-notch seasonal menu.

While rooms are not as indulgent as some top hotels, they are well-appointed and many offer great views across the harbour. Upgrade to a Junior Suite or the Presidential Suite for a true luxury experience. Check rates and availability

Radisson Blu Royal Garden

One of the most iconic buildings in Trondheim, the design of the Radisson Blu Royal Garden recalls the old wooden warehouses which once stood alongside the river. Inside, the central atrium is filled with natural light from the glass roof.

Rooms are colourful and the affordable business class rooms come with extra space, a Nespresso machine,  free daily newspapers and complimentary pay-per-view movies. Check rates and availability

Clarion Hotel & Congress

One of the largest convention hotels in Scandinavia, the Clarion Hotel & Congress is also a great luxury choice for a personal visit to the city, especially on weekends.

Its fjordside location is a hit with visitors, as is its varied dining options including the Astrum Grill & Raw Bar, a top floor restaurant that combines Nordic cuisine with rustic American flavours and of course, an outstanding view. Rooms are modern with plenty of natural light.

The hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from the Hurtigruten terminal and so is a great choice for anyone arriving or departing on a cruise.

A nearby footbridge (elevator also available) links the hotel with the railway station and the rest of the city centre. Check rates and availability
