For more than a decade, I’ve been living in Norway, writing and making videos about its culture and breathtaking landscapes. But one of my favourite ways to share this amazing country is from the deck of a cruise ship.
These cruises sail through some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth: deep blue fjords framed by snow-capped mountains, charming fishing villages, and the wild Arctic coastline.
While on board, I give talks that bring Norway to life, mixing personal stories of everyday life here with travel tips you can use right away. Think of it as a behind-the-scenes guide to Norway, told as you experience the country for yourself.

L2705: In Search of the Northern Lights
28 February – 14 March 2027 on Fred Olsen Balmoral from Southampton: Cruising is one of the best ways to see the northern lights and to enjoy the winter landscapes of Northern Norway.
Now, there are no guarantees of seeing the aurora, but if you’re prepared to put in the time while you’re on the cruise, you do increase your chances. This itinerary visits three ports north of the Arctic Circle.
But winter cruises aren’t all about the northern lights! There are activities such as dog sledding or visiting Sami families, plus lots of scenic sailing past Norwegian landmarks bathed in snow.

7 – 18 November 2027 on Fred Olsen Bolette from Southampton: Here is another chance later in the year to go hunting for the northern lights, and see the best of what Northern Norway has to offer.
This itinerary visits two ports north of the Arctic Circle. Harstad and Sortland are not common cruise ship ports, so this itinerary will appeal to cruisers who have visited Northern Norway before, or who love to seek out smaller, more authentic places without the tourist crowds.
